1. The Two Storage Rooms in Your Brain

In 1971, a famous scientist named Allan Paivio discovered something important about human memory. He showed that our minds process the world through two different channels:

1. The Picture Channel: Remembers shapes, colors, faces, and real-world scenes.

2. The Word Channel: Remembers written words, sounds, letters, and grammar.

Paivio called this idea 'Dual-Coding Theory'. In plain English, it means that your brain is twice as powerful when it uses both channels at the same time.

2. The Two-Ropes Rule of Memory

Imagine a boat tied to a dock with only one thin rope. If that rope snaps, the boat floats away. That is what happens when you learn a word using only a text definition.

Now imagine tying the boat with two thick ropes: a picture rope and a word rope. Even if the exact spelling slips your mind, the visual image of the object remains clear in your head.

That visual memory gives your brain a quick clue, helping you recall the word much faster than if you had only studied a plain dictionary entry.

3. Stop Translating, Start Thinking in English

When beginner learners see an English word, they often translate it into their native language first: [English Word] -> [My Language] -> [Mental Meaning]. This three-step process makes speaking slow and exhausting.
